Kanalui - SLH Class of 1971 30th Reunion Recap
reported by Alan Young
Stag Nite at Young's Fish Market, Mon., Apr 30, 2001
Well, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd 30th reunion events are over. And from the responses I have been receiving it was a very big success. The golf tournament was highlighted with a drive-by aloha by Tony Raiola in his Verizon Truck. Terry Yasuhara took away 1st prize--a round trip to Maui and golf at Maui Lani. Neal Otani and Glenn Villegas tied for second and got a box of Staff Golf balls and round of Golf at Pearl Country Club each. Third place also a tie went to Bryan Siu and Tom Lewis--they both also got a box of golf balls and a ball marker. The weather was nearly perfect with light trades and just a little sprinkle of rain. Thanks goes out to Kevin Chong Kee for taking care of the event and Doug Won for helping secure the tee times--23 golfers were in attendance.

The Stag Night started with Francis Kamahele saying grace and everyone grinding food and drink furnished by yours truly. Everyone enjoyed talking story and reacquainting themselves with their classmates. Many prizes were given away to lucky classmates. Highlights of the night: Executive Assistant to the Governor gets a big fat kiss from Thankful Reverend. And 1985 St. Louis grad crashes party. Ask someone who was there what happened--50 classmates participated. The Dinner at 3660 on the Rise culminated the weekend. A wonderful heavy Pupu dinner was provided to us by the staff at 3660 on the Rise. Many thanks to Wes and Gale Ogawa for their gracious hospitality. Fortune cookies, souvenirs, and prizes for all. Music expertly provided by Steven Hall and Martin Pahinui with Bobby Hall and John Mead joining in for a couple songs. Around 60 classmates and significant others attended. Thanks to Kevin Chong Kee and Roberta Chong Kee, Bob Hall and Rita Hall, Neal Otani, and Jeanie Young for all the help.

All in all, it was great seeing all the classmates. Looking forward to our next event the family picnic at Waterpark in July.  Thanks go out to all the classmates that donated money and merchandise as prizes. Douglas Won, Kevin and Roberta Chong Kee, Alvin Yim, Joe Hu, Bob Moritsugu, Joe Lau, Howard Lau, Sidney Piosalan, Bill Coester, Wayne Tamashiro, Donald Keliinoi, Wes and Gale Ogawa, Neal Otani, Terry Yasuhara, and Alan Young.  To all Committee members and interested classmates would like to have a post event meeting on May 25 at the store. Would like to go over the events we just had and ones coming up so be ready to eat (I mean work).
