The SLHS Class of 1964 is half way through celebrating 40 years of success since leaving their senior year classrooms. To accommodate as many of the 204 graduates as possible, the reunion committee decided to split the festivities into 2 series of events to be held in 2 different cities. The Honolulu portion of the celebration was held the week of June 15th. A few of the graduates gathered at the Kapolei Golf Course on June 17th for 19holes of fun, food and refreshment. 53 of the graduates descended on the Natsunoya Tea house on Friday, June 18th for 5 hours of nostalgia and business networking. It sounded somewhat like what Mrs. Tyau's cafeteria used to sound like at lunchtime in the 60s. On Saturday, the 19th of June 75 old guys and gals gathered at the room where we used to attend the Elk's Club dances for an outstanding banquet that was enjoyed by all. Flo Galinato and Drs Ernie Kawamoto, Bob Chang and Ben Diniega came from America to join in the festivities and were glad that they did. Glenn Todd came over from Hilo. Phase two of the 40th reunion will be held on October 8th and 9th at the Stardust Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. 84 folks are currently signed but we are inviting families and friends of the graduates to join us. The goal is to reach 100. David Young of the class of 1963 will be joining his brother Charles to have a good time. Anybody wishing to mingle with the class of 1964 can e-mail Cory Lindo at corylindo@verizon.net. It will cost you $35.00 per person per event (cocktail party on the 8th and banquet on the 9th) - you get there on your own. Jack Ayers lives in Las Vegas, has a successful sign company and invites anyone visiting to call him at Ayers Signs and to take him to breakfast, lunch or dinner - whatever you can afford.
