| Nineteen golfers participated in the annual Class of 1952 golf trip to St. George, Utah and Las Vegas on September 15-23, 2004. Day one in Utah on Sept 16, part of the group toured Bryce Canyon National Park and the others played a practice round at Green Spring Golf Course in the warm 105 degree weather.
A Bar-B-Q cook out dinner on day one around Howard Johnson’s Inn swimming pool was a winner. Hop Dang and Al Fong cooked the steaks and chicken on the grill creating a delicious smelling smoke to generate the gastric juices. Lilly Moriyama and helpers prepped the side dishes, vegetables, rice, plates, etc. |

The evening end with a bunch relaxing in the outdoor Jacuzzi, water massaging the 70 year old muscles, a treat before going to bed. From the Class of 1952 are Robert Oyama, Albert and Lillian Moriyama, Wally and Sophie Yonashiro, Gordon Ontai and Betty Lou Ontai, Richard Tagawa, Albert Fong, Herbert Kirihara, and David Dang. Guests included Paul Kishinami, Sharon Moon, Richard and Linda Teruya, Stanley and Mildred Ueunten, Wallace and Kathy Mori, James and Francine Shioji. Competition golf on day two at Coral Canyoun Golf Course in 100 degree weather started at 2:00 noon. Wally Yonashiro, A flight, had low net of 67, and Al Fong, B flight, had low net of 70. Competition golf on day three at Entrada Golf Course in 99 degree weather started at 12:00 noon. Bobby Oyama, A flight, had low net of 75, and Al Fong, B flight, had low net of 73. Competiton golf on day four at Sunbrook Golf Course in 99 degree weather started at 9:00 A.M. Al Moriyama, A flight, had low net of 70, and Stanley Ueunten, B flight, had low net of 67. On the following days at Las Vegas, half of the group played in a tournament sponsored by California Hotel, a Hi-Cal (Hawaii California) tournament. Paired in groups of three, each group consisting of someone from A flight, B flight, and C flight, and members from all walk of life, Bob Oyama’s group won. The other half of the group had their own tournament at Boulder City Golf Course. Nobody won because Hop’s group got lost and the group separated, finally playing golf at different times, uncoordinated, but certainly enjoyed the day at the golf course. |
