The St. Louis Alumni Softball Tournament was held at Keehi Lagoon Park over the Presidents’Day weekend (February 16-17, 2008). This annual event, spearheaded in the past by Nick Wong ‘59, is now being hosted by the Sports Committee. The Sports Committee would like to thank Nick for his years of dedicated time and effort in organizing and conducting this event. A total of 12 teams comprised the Red and Blue Divisions. Highlights of the tournament were: 1) The first-time participation of the Class of 2007. 2) Recognition of Charlie Hall ‘60, the founder of the tournament in 1988. 3) A triple play in the Red Division that was pulled of by the Class of 1980 (D. Diamond snagging a hot grounder at third, relaying to K. Brunn at second, who turned the pivot to complete the play to G. Hema at first). The results of the tournament were as follows:

A plaque with the year of the winning team from each division, along with the name of the designated honoree will be on display at the Clubhouse. However, the focus and purpose of the tournament is participation, spirited fellowship, and giving back to our alma mater.

2008 St. Louis Alumni Golf Tournament

This year’s tournament is scheduled again at Leilehua Golf Course on Friday, June 13, 2008. The Class of 1959 will host the tournament. Entry Forms will be available shortly.

The Sports Committee generally meets at 10 am on the first Saturday of each month at the SLAA Clubhouse. All are welcome to attend and share their ideas.
