Yasuo Ogawa

|
Born in 1970 in Tokyo,
Japan, Yasuo continued his education at the University of Michigan
- 1992. His accomplishments include serving as Regional Sales
Director for United Airlines, and successfully managing and
brokering a company, which was later, sold to Microsoft Corp.
His hobbies include golfing, scuba diving, sleeping!, gardening,
reading books, spending time with family and friends. He belongs
to the American Chamber of Commerce – Japan, American
Chamber of Commerce – Taiwan, Japanese Chamber of Commerce
– New York, NY and the University of Michigan Alumni Association
– Hawaii. |
On a trip back home, his laptop computer
broke and he was unable to get it fixed. He had business plans
for his second company on this computer and needed to recover
important data, which were necessary in the sales negotiations
with Microsoft Corp. After taking the laptop to more than
5 different vendors and spending $1,200, he still wasn’t
able to find anyone who could repair his machine. The experience
caused him to think about the possibilities of starting a
no frills Computer Repair Company, hiring the best engineers
that he could find and providing service at a low cost. And
more than that, it was a great opportunity for him to move
back home. Two years later, he and his brother Tom ’90
started their company that not only is one of the most competitive
on this island but also one of the fastest growing computer
repair companies in the State of Hawaii. Their customer list
includes large financial institutions such as the Bank of
Hawaii, the State of Hawaii as well as many schools, small
businesses and hotels, whose problems range from broken computers
to enhanced internet security services, Japanese web site
design etc. They have staff on all islands within the State
of Hawaii and have increased our business by 75% (average)
every month!

Tom ‘90 runs Lassen International
– Waikiki, another division of Lumi International LLC.
These galleries feature art by world famous Christian R. Lassen.
Within a year of taking over operations, Thomas has successfully
gone from one Gallery in the Outrigger Waikiki Hotel to adding
two more locations in Waikiki all after the tragedy of September
11th! With positive revenue generation, he has proven once again
that proper management and awesome customer service are the
keys to the success of our company. |
The final facet of
their company includes their assets in Japan, which includes
63 family restaurants that they acquired in the first quarter
of 2001. Spanning the whole country, these 24-hour a day restaurants
have enabled them to become one of the top 20 largest franchise
owners of restaurants in Japan. |
Cowabunga!
Computers to the rescue Cowabunga!, reported by Yasuo
Ogawa When Bob Takei, Executive
Director, Alumni Services called Cowabunga! Computers to have
his computer at the Association office repaired, a crack engineer
was at his office within the hour and in less than 4 hours,
his computer was back up and running. A few days later, as
luck would have it, the same problem replicated itself and
they were right back fixing his computer at no additional
charge. The house call performed by Cowabunga! Computers not
only impressed Bob but it also gave us the chance to share
this exciting and dynamic company with the rest of my fellow
alumni. What you read above is not only a regular day in the
life of Cowabunga! Computers but it is also the very reason
for its success.
