Just wanted to inform you of another Crusader you can be very proud of. Burton
Ha'aheo Bento '01 had an awesome year at Texas A&M-Commerce
(attached articles for your enjoyment).
Not only did he have a stellar football season on the field but one in the classroom
as well, maintaining a 3.1 GPA. Many big name schools were
very interested, but only offered him a 'walk on opportunity.
Although Texas A&M-Commerce is a DII school, he opted for this opportunity,
which included a scholarship and starting position in hand.
It proved to be a wise choice and he does not regret it.
In a whole new "culture" and learning experiences
abounding, he is maturing into a fine young man.
After setting himself apart from the pack in outstanding performances this summer
in College/Pro Kicking Combines and this past season's results,
he has been approached by scouts from the NFL and others
who have advised him of their intent to watch him next season.
It was a good move all the way around. A Canadian Football
scout also guarantees him a slot if the NFL doesn't grab
him first.
My prayer is that he just be the best "Saint Louis gentleman" that
he can be, always holding true to those standards of excellence.
That the good Lord light his path and bless him according
to His will.
Just wanted to share this with you ...I thought you might appreciate the update
on this St. Louis alumnus.
Lions Down West Texas A&M 38-28 "Ha`a Bento set the Lone
Star Conference and A&M-Commerce record with his 18th
field goal of the year with a 25-yarder to take a 24-7 lead
into
the half."
Lions Faulkner and Bento Named LSC Players of the Week "Bento,
a 6-0, 205 pound junior from Honolulu, Hawaii/Saint Louis
School, tied the university's record with four field
goals. He also chipped in four point-after-touchdown kicks
to total 16 points and tie that school record." |
